INNOCENT THIEF - İngilizce Fıkra

Nasrettin Hodja's donkey was stolen. In stead of consolling, his neighbours were blaming him saying.

"You should have locked the shed,"

"Didn't you hear any noises?"

"You should have tied the donkey securely."

Nasrettin Hodja listened patiently, for awhile and finnaly said,

"Well, you are putting all the blame on me. Do you think the thief was innocent?"

How Far

Hodja was running as fast and shouting as loud as he could. Somebody saw him and thought something had happened to him. So, he ran up to Nasrettin Hodja and asked,

"What happened, Hodja?"

Nasreddin Hodja kept on running and said,

"I wondered how far my voice travels. So, I am running after it."

Ne kadar

Hoca hızlı ve yüksek sesle bağırmaya çalışıyordu. Biri onu gördü ve ona bir şey olduğunu sandı.

Hemen Nasrettin Hoca'nın yanına kadar koştu ve sordu,

"Hocam ne oldu?"

Nasreddin Hoca bağırmaya devam etti ve dedi ki,

"Ben, benim sesimin ne kadar uzağa gittiğini merak ediyorum..."

Hodja had his money stolen. He was quite upset and prayed often to find it. In the mean time, the ship one of the wealthy residents of Akşehir was sailing was caught in a storm. The man was so scared that he promised himself to give two-hundred akçes to Hodja if he got safely back home.

He survived the storm, and when he returned home he gave two hundred akçes to Hodja as he had promised. Of course, Hodja was thrilled. He thought for a few minutes and then said,
"My Lord, such coincidences! You sure work in mysterious ways."
